A Mind–Body Journey Into Gratitude

Fall arrives with a quiet shift into cooler air, softer light, and a natural invitation to slow down. It is the season when nature gently releases what is no longer needed, and we are encouraged to do the same. As leaves begin to fall, our own internal landscape asks us to reflect, clear space, and honor what the year has grown within us.

This is a key component of mind–body awareness: recognizing that our inner world is always responding to the rhythms around us.

           Listen to Your Inner Season...

The mind and body are always communicating because they're always connected.

Sometimes those messages are softer and appear as slight tension, restlessness, disrupted sleep, irritability.

Sometimes they’re louder and show up as fatigue, headaches, emotional overwhelm, or the feeling that something is “off” even when life appears steady on the surface.

Understand that these sensations are not random.

           They are signals. T

           hey are guidance.

They are part of your body's natural way of calling you back home to yourself.

Fall is the perfect season to honor this intimate communication within. To pause long enough to actually hear what your body and subconscious have been trying to tell you, or simply honor the magnificence of you and your body's resilience.

Every year, Fall marks a shift in energy from outward expression to inward reflection. Just as nature prepares for winter, we too begin to gather the harvest of our experiences.

This is the time to ask:

What has this year grown within me?

            What have I learned?

What am I ready to integrate?

What needs to be released with grace?

What new seeds are quietly taking root for next year?

Fall is not just about letting go. It’s about acknowledging the fullness of your life, the challenges and the triumphs. It’s about recognizing where you’ve stretched, softened, healed, or transformed.

It is your invitation to deepen, to settle, to exhale.

When we ignore our body’s signals or push through stress without awareness, tension accumulates. When we slow down and pay attention, clarity emerges.

This is why seasonal transitions are so powerful.

They mirror the shifts happening within us.

To help you move through this season with intention, I created a Free 5-Day Fall Gratitude Journal. It is a simple, nurturing guide to support your mind, body, and spirit.

Why Del Mar Residents Are Choosing Hypnotherapy

           Stress affects everyone -

whether you’re building a business, raising a family, or enjoying the coastal lifestyle here in Del Mar. But more and more Del Mar and North Coastal San Diego County residents are discovering that hypnotherapy offers something different: a way to reprogram the mind’s automatic stress responses so you can think and feel with more clarity.

Many clients turn to hypnotherapy after years of relying on other stress-coping methods: deep breathing, meditation, exercise, and mindfulness apps. While these tools are valuable, they often fail in the moment when stress is at its peak. It’s easy to forget to use them when you’re already “amped up” or in fight-or-flight mode.

Others maintain strict self-care routines to manage stress, but this rigidity can create

           more pressure

          rather than relief.

Recently, residents have been turning to devices like the Oura Ring, Apple Watch, and other smartwatches - some with integrated cortisol-monitoring features to gain insight into their stress levels. Many are surprised to learn that what they assumed was “normal” stress is actually chronic high stress, often accepted as a byproduct of success.

How Hypnotherapy Changes the Stress Response:

          Hypnotherapy works at the

           subconscious level

, teaching the mind to respond differently to regular stressors. Instead of being swept away by stress, clients are able to pause, think clearly, choose their response, and return to a state of calm more quickly.

After hypnotherapy, Del Mar residents report:

            of their emotions and behaviors

Does Hypnotherapy Replace Other Coping Skills?

Not necessarily - most clients find they still benefit from their favorite stress-management techniques, but with hypnotherapy, they don’t have to use them as often or with as much urgency. It creates space and clarity, so those strategies work even better when needed.

Overcoming Panic Attacks: How Hypnotherapy Unlocks Freedom from Fear

If you’ve ever had a panic attack, you know how overwhelming and terrifying it can be—like losing control or even feeling like you're dying. The fear is so intense that many people start to develop a fear of the fear itself, constantly worrying about when the next attack will strike. The most frustrating part? Even when you logically know you’re safe, the fear feels completely real.

So, let’s break this down and explore how hypnotherapy can help you break free from panic attacks for good.

           What Is a Panic Attack?

A panic attack is an intense, irrational fear response triggered by the brain’s survival instinct. Symptoms can include:

          ✅ Heart palpitations

          ✅ Shortness of breath

✅ A sense of impending doom

          ✅ Dizziness or fainting

          ✅ Nausea or vomiting

          ✅ Sudden anger or distress

✅ A strong urge to escape

Panic attacks are not random. They often result from deeply rooted subconscious fears—even when you don’t realize it. That’s where hypnotherapy comes in.

           Why Do Panic Attacks Happen?

Contrary to what many believe, panic attacks aren’t always caused by the situation you’re in when they occur. More often, they stem from a subconscious trigger—something in the environment that reminds your brain of a past fear, trauma, or emotional distress. Your amazing brain wants to protect you, so if it thinks you're in danger then the fight or flight survival instinct jumps into action!

How Hypnotherapy Reveals Hidden Triggers: Two Real-Life Stories

            Fear of Driving: Claire’s Story

Claire once loved driving, but after moving to San Diego with her husband, she had a sudden panic attack on the freeway. The fear was so intense that she pulled over, convinced she was having a heart attack. She avoided freeway driving for years.

          How Hypnotherapy Helped:

Through hypnosis, Claire uncovered the real issue—her fear wasn’t about driving at all. Instead, it was about her fear of life’s direction and past decisions that led to difficult situations. Her subconscious had linked driving with feeling lost and uncertain. Once she rewired this belief through hypnotherapy, she regained her confidence and even bought the classic car she had always dreamed of.

✈️ Fear of Flying: Edward’s Story

Edward traveled frequently for work and leisure—until one flight, during mild turbulence, he had a severe panic attack. Though the turbulence wasn’t particularly bad, he was convinced the plane was going down. From that moment, he avoided flying altogether.

          How Hypnotherapy Helped:

Through hypnosis, Edward discovered that his panic attack had nothing to do with flying. Right before that flight, he had gone through a painful and unexpected breakup. The emotional shock left him feeling like the rug had been pulled out from under him. When the turbulence hit, his subconscious associated the out-of-control feeling of the breakup with flying—locking in a new fear.

The next time he flew, his conscious mind wasn’t thinking about his ex, but his body remembered the fear. Through hypnotherapy, Edward rewired this subconscious connection and successfully got back to flying. He even chose a destination wedding for his honeymoon!

Why Hypnotherapy Can be the Key to Overcoming Panic Attacks?

Unlike traditional talk therapy, which works on a conscious level, hypnotherapy goes straight to the subconscious mind—the part of you that triggers the fear response in the first place. Hypnotherapy...

Identifies the root cause: Most panic attacks are linked to subconscious memories or fears you may not even be aware of.

Rewires your brain’s response: Hypnotherapy helps reframe how your mind perceives certain situations, removing irrational fear responses.

Creates lasting change: Once your subconscious understands you are safe, the panic attacks stop—allowing you to move forward with confidence.

Break Free and Take Back Control

Panic attacks don’t have to control your life.

When your conscious and subconscious minds finally align, the fear disappears.

If you’re struggling with panic attacks, hypnotherapy may be the missing key to regaining your freedom, confidence, and peace of mind.

Imagine life without fear—because it’s possible.

Confessions of a Massage Therapist: Bloopers and Laughs Along the Way

If you’re anything like most of us, you might feel like you’re just tightening your cheeks, holding on for dear life as things change around us—especially when it comes to the whirlwind in the White House. In times like these, it can be tough to know how to approach each other, unsure of how our words and actions might be received. So, let’s take a break from the heavy stuff and add a little humor to the mix, shall we?

Some of you might only know me as a hypnotherapy client, but I started my journey as a massage therapist, and yes, that side of my practice is still very active. So, for a bit of levity, I thought I’d share some of my favorite bloopers that have happened (more than once) over the years as a massage therapist. Get ready to chuckle!

“OH! You are supposed to get underneath the sheet.”

Let’s talk about tight cheeks for a moment! Early on, I quickly learned the importance of asking clients when their last massage was. Not just for understanding their goals, but also to gauge their familiarity with the process. There’s nothing worse than walking into a room expecting the client to be tucked under the sheet, only to find them on top of it—clenching their cheeks because, well, they feel exposed. Ever since, I make sure to give detailed instructions on how to get under that sheet, even demonstrating with a hand gesture to make sure no one’s cheeks are uncomfortably clenching.

“Yes sir, I’m sure it is lovely; you still have to keep the sheet on.”

I’ll admit, some clients think they can skip the sheet altogether. I’ve had a few who have said things like, “C’mon, I’m not a prude.” My reaction? A quiet sigh and clear clarification. Do you really think you can go without the sheet? Do you skip putting on the hospital gown at your proctology exam? Let’s keep it professional please.

           Drool Happens.

Ah, the joys of a relaxed client. Picture this: I enter the room, ready to get into my flow, shoes off, music playing… and then splat. A client falls asleep face down, and gravity works its magic. Drool. Everywhere. I quickly learned that stepping barefoot in saliva is a hard limit for me—no matter how zen the moment. Let’s just say, after that incident, I’ve always kept my shoes on!

           Oops! Another boob!

It happens. Sometimes, parts of the body just fall out. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been caught in a situation where I’m adjusting a client’s limbs, trying to move the sheet gently, a client helps me move their limb, only to have a body part pop out unexpectedly. My solution? Calmly pull the sheet back up and hope we can just move on without any embarrassment. Usually, we forget about it in seconds.

“I’m sorry, I forgot to shave my legs!”

Ladies, this one's for you. Honestly, I can’t remember the last time a client came to me with perfectly smooth skin. It’s rare! Most of the time, there’s a little stubble here and there, or maybe some clients prefer an all-natural approach. No worries at all. The funniest part? It’s usually the newly-divorced clients who come in, excitedly proclaiming, “I shaved for you!” I’m flattered, truly. But honestly, no judgment here—stubble, smooth, or anywhere in between, we’re all good.

Thank Goodness I’ve Got an Oil for That!

Now, I love using essential oils during my massages, but sometimes, after a long day of work, clients can be a little... shall we say, fragrant? We’ve all been there. But sometimes, the relaxation can get things moving and—oops!—a fart slips out. What do I do? Keep going, add more oil, and pretend like I didn’t hear anything. In my head, though? I might be secretly laughing and imagining trapping you in your own funky smell under the sheets. Just a little childish humor!

If You Wouldn’t Ask Your Mechanic for a "H-job," Don’t Ask Me Either.

Yep, every massage therapist has had at least one client who tries to push the boundaries. It’s an unfortunate part of the job, and we’re trained on how to handle these situations. Mostly, I can see it coming, but there’s the occasional moment when I’m completely caught off guard. The worst? An 80-year-old man who made it very clear he was “proud” of his, uh, erection. I won’t go into the full details, but let’s just say the whole thing was awkward, offensive, and surprisingly hilarious—especially when he tried to pay with a Groupon-style certificate. Yes, you read that right.

So, there you have it! Some of the funny and awkward moments I’ve experienced as a massage therapist. No matter how many surprises come my way, whether it’s drool, accidental nudity, or unexpected requests, I keep going with a smile.

Remember: life’s too short to take too seriously, so no matter what surprises may come, what stinks, or dicks you might encounter we are all going to be alright in the end and hopefully laugh a little along the way.

          All my best,

Embracing the Unexpected: How to Stay on Track with Your Goals No Matter What Life Throws at You

As the calendar flipped to 2025, I felt an overwhelming sense of excitement. I sat down with my journal, full of ambition and clarity, ready to set big, juicy goals for the year ahead. I was pumped, fired up, and sure that this would be

           MY

year. Maybe you felt the same way?

But, as often happens when we commit to something big, life had other plans.

It wasn’t long before I found myself knocked down by a nasty virus that kept me in bed for an entire week. Just as I started to feel better and was gearing up to dive back into my goals, life threw me another curveball. I took a nasty fall down the stairs and injured my foot. The doctor said I needed to stay off it for several weeks. What?! But wait, there’s more—just when I was starting to recover, I managed to smash my finger so badly that my nail might fall off.

I couldn't help but ask myself: what is going on here?

I know exactly what's going on. It's those familiar old patterns of resistance that show up whenever we're pushing ourselves to reach the next level. Sound familiar? We all face these moments—even me. And yes, I’ll admit it: part of me likely subconsciously manifested this series of unfortunate events. But the good news is, I get to own it and make a new choice.

Looking back on a similar situation, I realized that the last time I faced setbacks like this, I took my foot off the gas. I focused on taking care of myself, but I eventually lost all motivation. I found myself slipping into a rut, doing just enough to keep up with the demands of everyday life, and getting comfortable with the status quo. I got stuck in a pattern of “I’ll just do the minimum until I’m strong enough to get back to my goals.”

Sound familiar? How many times have you set a big goal for yourself, only for “life” to get in the way and suddenly you’re off track, back in your old routines?

This time around, as I sat there icing my foot, I could’ve used that time to work on my business goals or teach my daughter a healthy recipe. Instead, I found myself binging Netflix and ordering pizza. I allowed myself to indulge in the circumstances, to take the easy route instead of shifting my mindset.

But here's the turning point: I recognized it early. I owned it. And I made the choice to shift. That doesn’t mean I wasn’t taking care of myself, but I realized I could still honor my goals while looking after my health. It wasn’t about choosing between the two—it was about getting creative and finding a way to make both work.

Now, I want to share how I knew I could “simply shift” and why I believe you can do the same.

You’ve probably heard the saying, “How you do one thing is how you do everything.” But honestly, I don’t fully agree with that. I think we all have at least one area in life where we excel without letting circumstances get in the way. We don’t say, “I can’t”—we say, “I have to.”

For example, if you’re a single parent battling the flu, you might still make sure your kid gets to school and has lunch packed. Or, if you’re someone with a job that demands your attention, you’ll get those emails answered, even when you're under the weather. There are moments when you just

           SHIFT

and do what’s necessary because you’ve made it a non-negotiable.

We all have these non-negotiable moments—those areas where we push through, adapt, and make it happen, no matter how difficult the circumstances.

So, ask yourself: What are your non-negotiables? What areas in your life do you show up for, no matter what? Write them down! Use these moments as evidence that, no matter what happens, you have the ability to get creative and make things work. You always have the choice to adjust and move towards success.

I’d love to hear from you—what are the big (or small) goals you’re making into non-negotiables this year? When those goals are challenged by life's events, think back to how you are able to simply shift, adapt and push through in other areas and use that mindset to stay the course in achieving your goals. What shifts are you ready to make to stay on track?

Here's to the understanding that you've got this, and that the best is yet to come! Cheers to staying committed to your goals, no matter what life throws your way!

When trauma energy gets stuck in the body

There is no greater understanding of the mind-body connection than when feeling the pain of stuck trauma energy.

When it comes to how to release stuck trauma energy from your body, first we need to start with the basics. What is it, how did it get there and why is it lingering, and then how to get rid of it? All of this knowledge and strategy I’m sharing with you are a combination of my 20 years of experience with my clients as well as what I’ve learned from going through my own life moments of moving my own stuck trauma energy. I’ve personally recovered from chronic bladder infections, vertigo, insomnia, and panic attacks.

           What is Stuck trauma energy?

Stuck trauma energy is the body and mind’s natural way of protecting you when you’ve had a previous physical and/or emotional injury. Very similar to how your body creates scars to reinforce the surrounding tissues so a wound won’t reopen. Our bodies and minds are so good at protecting us but sometimes it does too good of a job and can make things worse for the overall function. When we have this trauma energy it can start small as random pain or a few nights of disrupted sleep but when we don’t let it go and don’t know what to do with it, it can manifest into a more uncomfortable condition such as chronic pain, chronic infections, nerve dysfunction, TMJ problems, IBS, anxiety disorders, panic attacks, carpal tunnel syndrome, insomnia, foot, knee or leg problems, chronic back problems, migraines, etc.

           How did it get there?

Well #1, you went through an event. Okay, that may seem obvious to you, but so often I get clients who can’t pinpoint what could possibly be so traumatic to cause this stuck intense feeling or pain. The truth is that it can be an event that is obviously traumatizing to most people such as surviving a plane crash, or a car accident, or it could be as small as simply losing a pet. The interesting thing about trauma is that no event by itself is actually traumatic. Yep! You read that correctly…..NO event is traumatic which brings us to

#2. You DECIDED (or were made to believe) the event was traumatizing. It is only the meaning we choose to put on any event which makes it traumatizing or not. Okay, you might be looking at me like I’ve got ten heads here, but I promise you, you have a choice. For example, have you ever wondered why not all military come back from combat with PTSD, or why more first responders aren’t suffering from extreme anxiety and depression despite horrific situations they’ve been a part of? It is because they have been able to frame the things they had witnessed or endured as something to expect within the role they signed up for, or the simple idea that their foundation of themselves is unchanged despite the unexpected event.

I have had several clients throughout the years who had been through intense events in other countries but were fine because it was accepted as normal for their culture, or clients who had remembered going through inappropriate and uncomfortable situations as a child but never saw themselves as victims, so they were able to process through the uncomfortable memories without holding an identity to them. Just because a person is victimized doesn’t mean they have to feel victimized. They get to still hold their own power and individual identity. In fact, reclaiming one’s identity by choosing to no longer be a victim is an important step in recovering from trauma.

It is very interesting the things we see as crisis or trauma and then further hold onto. The truth is that no matter what the event is, it is just a thing that happened, it is neutral, until we as problem solving people want to put meaning on it so that it won’t happen again, and we can be safe.

This equally applies to when our bodies go through a physical injury. When a perso

n is otherwise physically healthy but doesn’t bounce back from an injury fully it is because they have lingering thoughts or emotions connected to that injury in an effort to protect themselves to be safe. My massage clients who come in from whiplash due to a car accident for example, those who accept it as simply an unexpected event our of their control recover rather quickly trusting in their body’s ability to heal, versus those clients who become angry and fearful that they can’t stop something like this from happening again take longer to recover until they fully let go of the emotion of the event.

Of course, the events which happen can be very extreme and I’m not saying you shouldn’t feel anything or minimize them. In fact, just the opposite! It is important to feel the normal human emotions but then reframe them and let them flow. When we don’t let the intense feelings and thoughts move on out of our bodies with trust is actually how they get stuck.

          The

           lack of trust

is the main reason why that trauma energy sticks around and takes up space. This can be lack of trust for our environments wanting everything to remain in order, lack of trust for others not to hurt us, lack of trust in our body’s capability to heal, and ultimately lack of trust for ourselves to be able handle anything unexpected which comes our way.

Okay, now finally how do we get rid of this stuck trauma energy (or not let it stick to begin with)?

Some things you can do on your own:

          1)	Accept that all events are neutral and look back at the “traumatizing” event (if you know what it is) with a new perspective and decide to feel differently about it in a way which is more empowering.

          2)	Remember that life has always been uncertain and always will be. Nothing has changed except that you have more knowledge. You’ve always made it through and bounced back just fine before so all evidence points to the fact that you can come back better than ever now.

          3)	Remember your body has amazing wisdom and came pre-programmed to return to homeostasis. Set down any fear or misbeliefs about reasons why your body can’t heal and surrender to that internal wisdom. Visualize, reminding your body of the original blueprint of all parts functioning optimally.

          4)	Move the energy by working out, deep breathing, stretching, journaling, dancing, kundalini yoga, singing, doing a digestive cleanse, laughing, crying, journaling, stating the raw emotion of the negative once to someone who will hold you high and then stating how you’re choosing to move forward now.

          5)	Feed the positive movement and reclaiming of balance by surrendering the what-if’s and instead owning the I-can’s.

          6)	Trust that you are made of capabilities and possibilities. Impossible turns to “I’m Possible”

          7)	If you have a spiritual faith actually surrender into it and allow yourself to be guided.

           Need help?

Lastly, if you’re having a hard time moving this stuck trauma energy on your own, let go of blame or shame and accept that, by nature, we are pack-animals and meant to support one another for the evolution of the collective. You too get to be supported so that you can live your best life. With all of my knowledge and experience I still ask for support when I need it which allows me to move quicker.

Please reach out to me if you need support as I am happy to help you move this on through so you can get back to showing up as your best self and fulfill all your goals and purposes. The modalities I use for my clients and myself are hypnotherapy, massage, cranio-sacral therapy, aromatherapy, and a very connected intuition.

Other types of modalities I’ve received which can help move this stuck trauma energy for you too are reiki, acupuncture, psychotherapy, breathwork, and life coaching. Let me know if you’d like a recommendation for a trusted clinician who uses these other modalities.

All my very best to you!
